Rich & Diane's Backyard 2011
We bought our home just 3 short years ago & have turned our yard into a lovely walking garden. When we started, the whole backyard was an overgrown mess with about 200 of the large rocks you see covering the hills & hiding beneath the overgrowth. We started from scratch by cutting everything down & collecting the majority of the rocks into large piles. We placed the rocks we liked around the yard & built a small rock wall at the bottom of the main hill. We added the walkway on the back hill & found 2 stone walkways buried beneath inches of grass & dirt. The large, wide stairway was already there & the smaller stairway we cut into the hill ourselves. We have added more & more perennials each year & also use colorful annuals for pots & dashes of color throughout the yard. We also added the arborvitaes along the back fence to accent the back & cover the aged fence. We are still working on the shade areas to find those perennials that are colorful & will flower at various times throughout the season. Our favorites are coreopsis(we have about 15 different varieties), hibiscus, phlox, delphiniums, dahlias, datura, cosmos, & snapdragons. We also love the Painter's Palette we found at Zehr's to spice up the shade areas! We'd like to thank Mark & Laurie for providing the FINEST selection of perennials & annuals around! We look forward to shopping there very soon. Enjoy the pics!!
